Once or twice a week, the students have to leave a short response to an entry written by their professor. These entry typically engage the students with a literary passage or a short movie, which will be then discussed in class.

The students also create their own blog entries to prepare debates that they are going to lead in class. They chose a topic which is important to them and that they want to discuss with their classmates. They work by groups of two or three.
This blog project had several objectives.
1) ANALYTICAL and CRITICAL WRITING: The "intermediate high" level is usually a bridge class between language-based courses and content-based courses. The purpose of this blog is to introduce students to literature and films. This introduction takes place in two steps: First, the instructor use activities to stimulate the imagination of the students in order for them to be prepared for the work that they are going to read or watch. Secondly, the students have to answer questions to help them understand the texts or the films of the syllabus after they have read or watch them.
2) INTERPERSONNAL SKILLS: The students are encouraged to read the responses of their peers and engage with them in class about the different comments they have read.
3) CULTURE: The students read and watch authentic cultural materials : It helps them to build a better understanding of the French and Francophone world.
4) PRESENTATIONAL and LEADERSHIP SKILLS: The students create their own blog entries to engage their peers with a topic which is going to become the center of a class debate. They have to select press articles or videos and create questions to conduct the discussion.
5) AUTHONOMY: The instructor does not intervene much in the blog, which leaves a lot of autonomy to the students. It helps them to find their own voice and progessively "own" the foreign language that they are studying.
